PBS-NV Family Support
PBS-NV is grant funded through the Fund for Healthy Nevada. Because of this grant funding, PBS-NV is able to offer inexpensive or free behavioral services to families throughout the state of Nevada in the form of workshops and individual consultations. The curricula for our workshops are all based on the principles of applied behavior analysis and positive behavior support. All strategies and interventions that we teach are evidence based, and all of our staff members are either Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), or are studying behavior analysis in graduate school.
PBS-NV is regionalized throughout the state with offices in Reno, Elko, and Las Vegas. While we serve a majority of our clients in those areas, a specific goal of the grant is to serve rural areas. In recent years, we have held workshops and consultations in Hawthorne (Mineral County), Winnemucca (Humboldt County), Gardnerville (Douglas County), and Silver Springs (Lyon County).

The Nevada PBIS Technical Assistance Center employs a staff with a variety of experiences including working with children and adults with and without disabilities, with behavior problems ranging from mild to severe. This experience includes working directly with those with behavior problems, as well as teaching others (families, siblings, caretakers, teachers, professionals, paraprofessionals, etc.) how to address problem behaviors.
As experts in the field, schools, court systems, residential homes, and government agencies have requested customized trainings from PBS-NV and the Nevada PBIS Technical Assistance Center based on their particular needs. These trainings have included workshops that already exist but are tailored to specific needs, or completely new workshops designed with a specific population or need in mind. Some recent customized training contracts have included teaching school staff how to assess problem behavior and write individualized, function-based behavior plans; and a new parenting curriculum designed for a Nevada county court system for parents who have lost custody of their children and are trying to regain custody through the court system.
